Marta  Systems' DSPix7 high-speed signal processor board was designed especially for demanding imaging and telecommunications work. This single, full-sized IBM-AT compatible card is configurable for either one (single channel) or two (dual channel) full-duplex analog channels with subscriber-line interfaces, two serial channels capable of operation up to 4mbps, one serial channel which can operate up to 5mbps, two general-purpose digital inputs, 64k  bytes of local  memory,  a 16-bit bus-master interface to the PC-AT bus and a second-generation Texas Instruments DSP running at 40 MHz.

The  unique  bus-master interface on the DSPix7 allows direct reading and writing of data anywhere within the 16 megabyte address space of the PC without any  intervention by the PC.  Onboard diagnostics and system monitor speed program development and quickly pinpoint faults while in operation.

Typical DSPix7 applications include domestic and international wire service and satellite image reception and transmission. DSPix7 custom application drivers have been  written to support CCITT, AP, UPI, GOES-TAP and GOES, METEOSAT and GMS WEFAX formats. DSPix7 cards include a debug monitor code to allow  development of custom application drivers. Applications include:

IMAGING:

Weather picture simultaneous transmission and reception.

Image Standards conversion (AM to FM and/or FM to AM).

Wire Photo transmission and/or reception.

High-speed Facsimile transmission and reception.
