OVERVIEW
|
The ROUTER program is supplied with any of Marta Systems' weather
data receiver modules for Windows-NT or Windows-2000 and acts
as the manager for all data processed by the ingest modules,
saved to disk, and displayed in Marta's SAND program.
The ROUTER program makes the Marta Systems' solution scalable
and flexible for today's networked environment.

|
FEATURES
|
ALARMS
The ROUTER enables the system to have an audible and/or visual
alarm to alert the system operator of the arrival of a specific
product, alphanumeric group or area, and system alarms. Several
alarm types are included, and user-provided .wav files are supported.
|
AUTO PRINTING
This feature sends a bulletin, group of bulletins or
an image to the printer when the product arrives. Each different
type of weather data can be sent to any of four different printers
if desired (radar to color printer, Difax to wide-carriage printer,
satellite or text to laser printer, etc.) and the hours of printing
can be selectively controlled to print continuously or only
print while the office is occupied.
|
EXPORTING & FILE CONVERSION
The export function creates a new file and converts it
from the native format for use in other programs.
The user can specify file type (graphic files only - TIFF,
JPG, BMP, etc.) and export location for the file. Each
different type of data (e.g., radar, satellite, Difax, text,
etc.) can be sent to a different specified network drive in
the users specified file format. Text files can be exported
as ASCII or converted to HTML format for export. The files
can also remain in their normal file naming structure which
is essential for time coding, or the name can be converted to
a static name, so that a static link can be made from a web
site. This function is widely used throughout the military and
industry to automatically populate web sites with the most current
weather products.
|
DISK MIRROR
The ROUTER can automatically maintain a mirror image
of selected products on a specified network drive for back-up
purposes or for access by multiple users in a local campus environment.
|
FTP
The FTP function allows selected products to be automatically
sent upon receipt to a ftp site on an intranet or the Internet.
|
ARCHIVE
The archive function can automatically create a copy
of any selected products and store them to a specified directory.
The product copy remains in the original format for use in the
SAND display program at a later date.
|
DIRECTORY SNIFF
The directory sniff function enables the user to automatically
process products which are saved on the hard drive by a remote
system. This function is mainly used in a network environment
that has two or more systems receiving data, one of which may
be a third party system that generates weather products compatible
with Marta's SAND display program. If third party imagery is
being "looped" in the SAND display program and the
third party system creates an updated product, it would automatically
update in the SAND loop.
|
PRODUCT GENERATOR
The product generator automatically creates user-defined
products at specified intervals, such as a NEXRAD radar overlayed
onto a satellite image, plots overlaid onto a satellite or radar
image, lightning overlaid onto radar onto satellite imagery,
etc. The product generator also has the ability to create collective
bulletins and Time Series, Skew-T, ASOS images. For more
information on fusion products see MS-Plot.
|
|
RETRANSMITTER
The RETRANSMITTER
function allows user selected products to be re-directed out
a specifed serial port for use with other systems. ASCII and
Baudet codes are supported at speeds up to 19200 BPS on Com
ports 1 thru 10.
|
PURGING
The ROUTER tracks the number of product versions on
the system to automatically manage hard drive capacity. A typical
user may keep 20 of each satellite or radar images on the system
for looping; when the 21st image is received the oldest
image is automatically deleted. Up to 99 versions of each product
may be available on the system and the number of versions maintained
for each individual product is fully user selectable.
|
AUTO UPDATE
When a new image or alphanumeric product is received,
and the product is currently being displayed, it will automatically
be updated. This feature allows the most current information
to be displayed without user interaction. Looping imagery always
remains current, and multiple text windows containing station
FT's, SA's, etc., are updated automatically upon receipt of
the new station's observation, terminal forecast, etc.
