WinPUP
Direct-Connect software, developed by Marta Systems,
is "Grade Level A, Unconditionally Certifified"
by the NOAA/NWS Nexrad Operational Support Facility
in Norman, Oklahoma, for connection to a WSR-88D
PUP as a "Class IV Other User", and to an
RPG as a Class I or Class II User.
In addition to eliminating data
service charges from Nexrad
data vendors and the associated telecommunications charges,
the Nexrad products are acquired by the Direct-Connect
system in real-time at the most rapid update cycle available
(directly from the PUP or RPG). The Nexrad products
can then be displayed on the system, automatically routed
to other users, and converted to browser compatible
files and movie loops, and exported to a web site, all
in real-time.
The Direct-Connect systems
are offered as fully integrated turnkey meteorological
workstations based on premium quality COTS personal
computers, and include an approved Codex modem for connection
to the PUP or RPG (depending on the model ordered).
The systems utilize Intel's PCI-bus architecture with
Pentium-Class processors, high-resolution color monitors,
and are network ready to support web publishing.
Optional
NTSC and S-video output for CATV distribution, and access to
Marta System' SKYTAP Weather
Service*. is available.

Marta's
SKYTAP weather service provides access
to additional Nexrad site products and/or
Nexrad National and Regional Mosaic products, and digital
GOES-8/10 products. WinPUP systems have the ability
to overlay locally acquired Nexrad products onto Marta
Systems' digital satellite imagery for fusion product
web publishing.
For
special applications, optional RPG connectivity at Class
I, and II, and multi-channel capability for dual RPG/PUP
radar product acquisition is available.
A single WinPUP system
can monitor any combination of two PUP's/RPG's at Class
I or II. An optional built-in Nexrad data simulator
allows loopback testing at all class levels.
WinPUP systems utilize Marta
Systems' powerful SAND
application for Nexrad product display,
and analysis.
Marta Systems built-in ROUTER
application supports web publishing, file conversion,
movie loop exporting, archiving, and export to multiple
users via TCP/IP and FTP.
WinPUP
Direct-Connect systems
are used by the NWS/OSF and FAA, and are in-use throughout
the U.S Navy and U.S. Air Force providing real-time
NEXRAD imagery to wing headquarters, weather stations,
control towers, and flying squadrons.
